Officer Lorenzo Funeral, Jerry Sandusky Cover Up, Judge Blocks Nutter's Feeding Ban

The funeral procession for Philadelphia Police Highway Patrol Officer Brian Lorenzo closed 8th Street, Arch Street and the Ben Franklin Parkway this morning on its way to the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul. Lorenzo was killed last weekend after his shift when his motorcycle was struck be a car traveling the wrong way on I 95. The driver of the car was allegedly drunk.

The scathing Louis Freeh report implicating Joe Paterno, Graham Spanier and other high ranking Penn State officials in the Jerry Sandusky cover up is raising even more issues for Penn State. The NCAA is now considering sanctions against the school. Criminal charges are being discussed against former President Graham Spanier. And what about the statues, murals and tributes to Joe Paterno all over campus? Many feel that they should come down.

A federal judge has blocked Mayor Nutter's ban on feeding the homeless on Ben Franklin Parkway. Nutter claimed that feeding the hungry outside City Hall was better than in city parks, including the Parkway, the new home of the Barnes Museum. Judge William Yohn disagreed, saying the Parks provide more dignity.
