A Philadelphia Freedom Taxi cab driver's license was suspended after being caught on surveillance camera defecating on Bainbridge Street last Friday morning. The video shows the driver pull over to the side of the road, get out of the car and squat down behind the car door. The Philadelphia Parking Authority is investigating the incident and says the driver has been relieved of his obligations and is no longer being dispatched by Freedom Taxi.

Pennsylvania teachers must demonstrate a combination of classroom skills and student achievement if they want to make the grade on planned new statewide evaluations, the first overhaul of the assessments in more than 40 years. Legislation enacted last month spells out specific criteria on which educators will be measured, and a possible new protocol for classroom observation has been getting trial runs in dozens of districts. But concerns linger about the still-unwritten final regulations. The official rating tool, to be unveiled by next June, will be created by the state Education Department in consultation with a committee of parents, teachers, administrators and experts.

Police are investigating a homicide in a Center City apartment on the 200 block of South 13th street An unidentified 22 to 30-year-old man was found dead in a second floor apartment after being shot several times. Investigators say the man inside was not the tenant. Police are questioning the tenant of the apartment, a woman, who they’re calling a person of interest.
