Two teenagers, who were working as part-time summer counselors at General Wayne Park in Merion are under investigation for discharging an airsoft pistol on two day campers on Wednesday. One boy reported being struck on the pinky finger and the other in the back, on his upper shoulder blade. The teens have been suspended without pay, with the intent to dismiss.

Delaware State Troopers are investigating an armed robbery that took place at a Wawa in Salem Village early Wednesday morning. The male suspect confronted two employees, displayed what appeared to be a shotgun and demanded money. The employees complied and turned over an undisclosed amount of cash.

The Philadelphia School Reform Commission approved a five-year contract for its new superintendent, Dr. William Hite, who officially takes over on October 1st. All five members voted unanimously to approve the deal. SRC Chairman Pedro Ramos called the contract another step; one forward for a financially troubled district.
