Property Of Jesus Cigarette Thief, PA Voter ID Law Stirs ACLU and NAACP, Flyers Internship

According to the Lower Southampton Township Police Department, a man wearing a shirt with "Property of Jesus" written on it was caught on surveillance video stealing $1000 worth of cartons of cigarettes from Trevose Beer & Soda in Feasterville August 11. Authorities believe the same man is responsible for burglaries that occurred at Krewstown Beverage in Philadelphia and Bensalem Suds Beer Store on August 2 and 5, respectively. Police are still searching for the unnamed suspect and urge anyone with information to contact police.

Reaction from the ACLU and voter education groups is that the fight over Pennsylvaniaâ€™s voter ID law is not finished. Attorney Jennifer Clarke of the Public Interest Law Center says her legal team views the ruling as a challenge that can be overcome saying there are weaknesses in the opinion. Pennsylvania NAACP president Jerry Mondesire says his group is outraged, given the short timeframe voters have to get an ID. Gov. Tom Corbett issued a statement saying that now that the law has been upheld, the state will continue to focus on ensuring that voters have ID.

The Philadelphia Flyers are now accepting applications for an internship named after one of the 12 victims of Julyâ€™s Aurora, Colorado mass shooting. Jessica Redfield, 24, was an aspiring sports broadcaster and blogger. Hockey was her favorite sport and because of that the Philadelphia Flyers recently established a journalism/PR internship in Jessicaâ€™s name. The young woman selected will work in the teamâ€™s public relations office, on team broadcasts, social media and more.
