Don't Miss These Highly Anticipated September Album Releases

Summer is coming to a close, but that doesn't mean there isn't anything left to look forward to for the last waning days of the sun rays. Here are just a few of the highly anticipated albums set for release in the coming weeks.

9/4
'Centipede HZ' by Animal Collective is the long awaited follow-up to the 2009's Merriweather Post Pavilion. Featuring the mash of distorted guitars and digital beats, these psychedelic indie rockers definitely push their own limits here.

'Sun' by Cat Power is Chan Marshall's first since 2006, and this one adopts the sound of the time utilizing synths and drum machines, moving away from the washings of piano/guitar and into a strong, deliberate sound. The first released track "Ruin" showcases this evolution.

9/11
'Love This Giant' by St. Vincent and David Byrne - This is a once in a lifetime collaboration between ex-Talking Head Byrne and indie rocker Annie Clark. The two share vocal leads over tracks full of horns and funky rhythms. Check out the lead single “Who.”

9/18
'Shields' by Grizzly Bear – The Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY indie rockers left their home to record their followup to 2009's Veckatimest, going to Cape Cod and Texas. Singers Daniel Rossen and Ed Droste said that for the first time they wrote parts for each other.

9/25
'Mirage Rock' by Band of Horses will be the 4th album by the Seattle-formed, South Carolina based rock band. Their most recent effort, 2010's Infinite Arms, was nominated for a Grammy, Best Alternative Album. The lead single for the new album, “Knock Knock,” rocks more and is not as sleepy as many of the tracks on Infinite Arms.

'¡Uno!' by Green Day is the first of a series of three albums being released by the band. Green Day began recording in February and finished in June. Realizing they had a lot of material and didn't want to waste it to the cutting room floor, they decided to put it out in a trio of albums. ¡Dos! will be released 11/13 and ¡Tré! will be available 1/15/13. The first two singles from ¡Uno! have been pushing up the charts, the power pop “Oh Love” and the dance inspired “Kill the DJ.”

'Babel' by Mumford & Sons will be the sophomore followup to the enormously successful debut Sigh No More from 2010. The quartet, led by Marcus Mumford, wrote most of the album on the road over the past two years. It features much of their signature folk sounds with tambourine, acoustic guitar, banjo, mandolin, and accordion, along with vocal harmonies.

'Push and Shove' by No Doubt is the 6th album by the SoCal rock band and the first in 11 years since 2001's Rock Steady. The band went on hiatus for many of those years while Gwen Stefani worked on her side project and then spent time with her family having children. The band began work writing some material without her as far back as 2006. They eventually started to tour again as a group in 2009 after Stefani's second child and hit the studio together in 2010. Finally they have completed the new album and released the first single “Settle Down.”
