Police Officer Saved By Vest, Nutter Vetoes Finnigan's Wake Plan, FDA Cheese Recall

A Philadelphia SWAT police officer was hospitalized this morning after he was shot Tuesday night in Fairmount during a traffic stop at a gas station. Officer Jose Roman was wearing his bullet proof vest and was struck by a fellow officer's gunfire.

Mayor Nutter has vetoed a plan that would have allowed Finnigan's Wake to expand balconies above Spring Garden Street. The 61 foot balconies to the bar and catering hall's second and third floors are viewed by the mayor to be a dramatic dedication of the public right of way for a primarily private use.

The FDA has recalled Forever Cheese because of possible health risks. Listeria contamination is the suspected problem and Forever Cheese may have been purchased in some Philadelphia area markets including Whole Foods, Wegmans and DiBruno Brothers. The FDA has confirmed 14 listeria cases in 11 states..
