President Barack Obama has signed emergency declarations for Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The declarations will allow officials in each state to request federal funding and other assistance for actions taken in advance of the huge storm. Forecasters say Hurricane Sandy could blow ashore Monday night or early Tuesday along the New Jersey coast, then cut across into Pennsylvania. Officials say the storm will threaten 50 million people in the most heavily populated corridor of the nation.

As of Monday morning, Hurricane Sandy was off the Virginia coast with 90 mile an hour winds. It has started to hook towards the west. The storm is expected to make landfall along the New Jersey coast late tonight. The official National Hurricane Center track has a landfall around Atlantic City. Expect 5-10 inches of rain with highest amounts in South Jersey and Delaware. Wind gusts over 60 mph late Monday, along with coastal and inland flooding and power outages.

All flights in and out of Philadelphia International Airport were cancelled for Monday and thousands more were suspended at airports nationwide, as a result of Hurricane Sandy. The Airport said it was advised by the airlines of the decision to suspend all flight operations. Call our toll-free flight information number 1-800-PHL-GATE (1-800-745-4283) or visitwww.phl.org for updated information.

The last flight into Philadelphia arrived at 11:30 p.m. Sunday. There was no immediate word on when flights would resume.
