NJ Boil Water Listing, NJ Lowes Discount, Obama Visits NJ

Twelve municipalities/water companies in New Jersey have instituted boil water advisories for all or parts of their communities:
⢠Atlantic City MUA
⢠New Brunswick Water Department
⢠Independence MUA – Highland System, Warren County
• Fortesque
• Ship Bottom
• Cedar Bonnet Island
• United Water Sunset Ridge, Vernon Township
• United Water Highlands Lakes, Vernon Township
• United Water Predmore, Vernon Township
• United Water Sammis, Vernon Township
• United Water Woodridge Wantage
• Brant Beach
Health Commissioner Mary O’Dowd said state, county and local officials are monitoring the water quality carefully. Public announcements will let residents know when the water is safe to drink or use.

The Christie administration has struck an agreement with Lowe’s Companies to give state and local governments in New Jersey a discount on emergency repair supplies and equipment. State and local officials will be able to receive 5 percent off more than 40,000 products within a few days. The Treasury Department says the discount will remain in effect through Nov. 30.

President Barack Obama pledged to the hurting people of New Jersey and beyond on Wednesday that “we are here for you and we will not forget.” In his most formal comments, Obama sought to project leadership in a crisis, delving deep into the details of the federal response. And he said he ordered his staff to follow a “15 minute rule.” He said that meant his staff had to respond to any state or local official who calls within that time frame. The federal government, Obama said, is “here for the long haul.”
