New Jersey Governor Chis Christie has approved a request to allow access to many Jersey shore towns damaged by Hurricane Sandy. Residents may now return to Brigantine, Margate, Longport, the Wildwoods, Avalon, Stone Harbor, Sea Isle and Ocean City. Atlantic City and Ventnor remain under evacuation order while public safety and health concerns are resolved.

Governor Christie has declared a state of water emergency for New Jersey in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. Indoor water use including showers, baths and cleaning must use minimal water. Outdoor water use is prohibited with few exceptions. That means no outdoor washing of houses, cars, patios or sidewalks. No watering of grass or landscapes. Restaurants may only serve water if requested.

Former Penn State University President Graham Spanier has been charged with numerous offenses in connection with the Jerry Sandusky sex abuse case. The State Attorney General?s Office is calling it a "conspiracy of silence." Also charged were former administrators, VP Gary Schultz and Athletic Director Tim Curley.

Weather
Clearing and colder overnight. 39 in Philadelphia.
