Reading Phillies will change their name after 46 years.

The Philadelphia Phillies' Double-A minor league affiliate Reading Phillies had announced last week that they had started to undergo a rebranding process that would at the very least change the look of the team. It sounded like a uniform and logo redesign. Since 1967, the Reading Phillies have always had a uniform that mirrored the Philadelphia major league team with red pinstripes and hats with a script "R" instead of "P".

Today, the club announced that this rebranding process is going to go to a deeper level. The franchise will be shedding the "Phillies" name and changing to a new one for the first time in 46 years. The complete rebranding announcement including the reveal of the name, jerseys, and logo will be held after the Reading Holiday Parade on Saturday, November 17th at 12:30pm at FirstEnergy Stadium.

The current logo has evolved over the years to incorporate aspects of Reading including the railroad and Pagoda, but the franchise wants move beyond that. They will attempt to pay homage to the city and its Baseballtown history as well as America's Classic Ballpark. General Manager Scott Hunsicker. "Our new look will establish a new identity for the modern era that parallels the Baseballtown heritage at America's Classic Ballpark." They want an identity for the team that the city can embrace and get behind for years to come.

They are working with San Diego based Brandiose who has also worked with teams such as the Harrisburg Senators, Lehigh Valley IronPigs, and Richmond Flying Squirrels.
