Philadelphia's GAMP, the Girard Academic Music Program, the elite public magnet school for gifted musicians, is losing its school busses. Part of school district cuts that would save the city a million dollars a year, officials at the school are concerned for the safety of students who would need to carry expensive instruments on SEPTA. The 500 student school educates fifth through 12th graders.

Traditionally, Black Friday, the big sale launching pad for Holiday shoppers starts before dawn the day after Thanksgiving. This year, the Black Friday sales will start even earlier. WalMart, Sears and Kmart have announced they will start the Black Friday deals at 8 pm Thanksgiving night. So after your Turkey dinner, if you don?t want to watch football or sit around with relatives, there's always shopping.

Philadelphia has become a target for casino developers. As Philly prepares to award another casino license, Steve Wynn, who built the Belagio in Las Vegas says he wants to build a casino and hotel very near the Sugarhouse casino on Delaware Avenue. Bart Blatstein has applied to convert the former Philadelphia Inquirer building to a casino and there is a plan to convert the Holiday Inn at the sports complex into a casino.
