Around three dozen people were hurt this afternoon when a school bus carrying 36 students crashed along the Garden State Parkway near mile marker 34. The bus had just left Charter Tech High School in Somers Point and was heading north on the Parkway when one of the tires blew. The bus went off the right ride of the road and struck a tree around 3:30 pm. All of the students and the driver were taken to area hospitals. They have since been treated and released. The New Jersey State Police Commercial Vehicle Inspection Unit will conduct an inspection of the bus to determine if there were an mechanical malfunctions that led to the crash.

Fox's K-9 partner “Nick” was by his side the night he was killed, suffering a graze wound himself. Today nearly two months later and on Veteran's Day, Nick was officially retired and signed over to Fox's widow, Lindsay. Nick will now the partner's family that he protected and so loyally stay by his side. Lindsay Fox has a young daughter Cadence and his pregnant with their second child. She said, “Thank you everybody for being here. He [Nick] is where he belongs. He is where he should be,” she told the crowd.

Millville, NJ's Mike Trout won the AL Rookie of the Year award playing for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. He received all 28 first place votes. Bryce Harper won the NL Rookie award for the Washington Nationals. He received 16 of 32 first place votes. Both players were late-April call ups and had break out seasons for their respective clubs.
