Plan to Kill Jerry Blavat, Chester-Upland Schools Close, Family of Philly Cop Moses Walker Sues

In the Ligambi mob trial today, a subpoenaed Fox 29 undercover tape was played discussing a threat to kill Philadelphia disc jockey Jerry Blavat. In the video, Joe Ligambi is arguing with government witness Lou “Bent Finger” Monacello. Ligambi appears to blame “the Geator with the Heater” for a negative story about Ligambi in Philadelphia Magazine.

Three schools in the Chester-Upland School District will be closed. Columbus Elementary School, Stretser Elementary and the Stem Magnet High school will all close within the next six months. After closure, the district will have two years to meet academic progress benchmarks or be put under complete external control.

The family of slain Philadelphia cop Moses Walker, Jr. has filed a lawsuit against the Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole. Walker’s family blames the parole board for breakdowns that allowed alleged killer Rafael Jones to be out on the street.
