Disabled Bensalem Woman Sought, Jerry Sandusky Get New Hearing, Philadelphia School Closing Fight

Bensalem police are looking for a mentally and physically disabled woman missing since yesterday. Kathleen Michaud was last seen on foot in Bensalem wearing a dark green jacket, dark pants and white sneakers. Michaud is legally disabled, has several physical and mental ailments and has not taken her medication in over a week. Anyone with information should contact Bensalem Police at 215-633-3719.

UPDATE: Kathleen Michaud has been found.

Jerry Sandusky is claiming he did not have enough time to prepare his defense in his child molestation trial. And the judge who presided over the former Penn State coach’s case has decided to allow an evidentiary hearing to explore the claim. The two hour hearing is scheduled for January 10th at the Centre County courthouse. Defense attorneys argue they needed more time to review three years of investigation evidence that was produced by prosecution before the trial.

Philadelphia community and student groups as well as the teachers’ union think it knows how to avoid closing schools. They recommend getting rid of the School Reform Commission, halt charter school growth and force Harrisburg to fund the Philadelphia School District with billions in financial aid to fix the broken system. The group, Philadelphia Coalition Advocating for Public Schools also claims the school district is not really broke, calling the fiscal crisis a “fallacy.”

Weather
Partly cloudy. 35 in Center City.
