A gun buyback program in Camden has set a new 2 day record. The state sponsored cash-for-guns program returned 1,137 firearms over two days. According to officials, some gun owners were motivated to give up their weapons by the recent killings in Newtown Connecticut at Sandy Hill Elementary School.

Flu season has arrived early. Across the country, influenza symptoms are showing up at their earliest point in 10 years. Local hospitals are experiencing high emergency room volume. Usually, early winter viruses are followed by outbreaks of the flu. However, Philadelphia is seeing simultaneous rises in respiratory infection RSV and flu.

The former Main Line housekeeper who stole the bust of Ben Franklin pleaded guilty in federal court yesterday. As part of a plea bargain agreement, the charge of concealing property against Andrea Lawton will be dropped. Her maximum sentence will be reduced from 20 years to 10 years. The bust is valued at $3 million.
