Meek Mill aka Robert Williams recently was ordered to stay in Philadelphia for at least a month per restrictions of his probation stemming from a drug and gun conviction in 2008. (see: Meek Mill Not Allowed to Tour, Cancels Africa Trip, Must Stay in Philadelphia) However this setback hasn't dampened his holiday spirits. Meek Mill will return to his alma mater, Strawberry Mansion High School, tomorrow to donate $10,000 for books as well as Puma basketball sneakers.

The North Philly native has shown concern for the recent announcement by the Philadelphia School Board. The presented plan intends to close 37 schools and consolidate programs across the school district. Strawberry Mansion is one of 8 high schools on the list. (see: Philadelphia School District Closing 37 Schools Change 18 Programs (list); Elementary, Middle, High")

There was some confusion over whether the event was going to happened at all. Meek Mill had posted a picture (now removed) to his Instagram account stating it was canceled because he was too controversial. The event simply was rescheduled according to the School District.

Meek Mill has had a very successful 2012 as an artist. In May, his mixtape, Dreamchasers 2 , was downloaded 1.5 million times from Datpiff.com in the first 6 hours. It featured guest appearance from Drake, Jeremih, Big Sean, Kendrick Lamar, 2 Chainz and more. The single “Amen” was also included on his debut album "Dreams and Nightmares”. That hit the charts at #2 it's first week selling 165,000 copies.
