Authorities say a seven year old boy had a loaded gun in his backpack at Universal Daroff Charter School in West Philadelphia Thursday. The boy got into school at 8 a.m. and put his bag away. Then, at 3 p.m. the boy found the gun in his bag and was the one who told his teacher. No one has been charged as police continue to investigate.

One of SEPTA’s Regional Rail lines was shut down after a person was struck and killed by a train last night. The victim was struck by an outbound train at the North Hills Station. The Lansdale/Doylestown Line was suspended due to the investigation.

A West Chester University student who contracted bacterial meningitis has died. In a letter addressed to the West Chester University Community released Thursday morning, school officials said that 20-year-old Sean Casey had passed away. School officials said counselors will be at the school to assist any students or friends following Casey’s passing.
