A fire in Philadelphia revealed a marijuana growing operation at an abandoned home. After a Sunday fire in the 2600 block of North 27th Street, police searched an abandoned home next door and found materials used in growing pot. The house had been empty for about 6 months. No drugs were found at the scene.

Country singer, Mindy McCready took her own life yesterday. The troubled performer shot to the top of the Country Music charts, however she had been struggling with drugs and alcohol. McCready died of a single gunshot wound and she took her life on the porch of a house at the same spot her boyfriend took his life last month. Mindy McCready was 37.

US Representative Allison Schwartz may be a leading candidate to challenge Governor Tom Corbett for governor next year. She has accumulated $3.1 million in campaign funds and in a recent test poll, was found to be more popular than Corbett.
