Police are currently involved in a standoff with an armed gunman at an apartment complex in Warminster, Bucks County. The man has barricaded himself inside the Jefferson On The Creek Apartment complex at 675 East Street Road. The standoff began earlier Tuesday evening around 7:30pm when police were called to the scene. The man exchanged gunfire with the police and a negotiator is on the premises. A woman who was in the apartment with the gunman has escaped unharmed. Authorities have urged residents and neighbors to stay inside and people trying to return home or drive through the area are being diverted. A temporary shelter has been set up at William Tennent High School. The coroner has also been called to the scene. The authorities are evacuating the nearby residences and are preparing for a "cold, long night."

UPDATE: Andrew Graham Cairns, 49, surrendered to police after a 6 hour standoff around 2:30 am. During the gun battle, a 90 year woman who lived downstairs from Cairns was shot and killed in the crossfire. Bucks County District Attorney David Heckler identified her as as Marie Zienkewicz. It is unknown whether she was killed by police fire or Cairns. The DA's office is handling the investigation of the shooting. Cairns is charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, assault of a law enforcement officer, discharge of a firearm into a structure and recklessly endangering six police officers. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 28. He is being held on $10 million bail.

Atlantic City's newest casino, Revel, is expected to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy next month. The $2.5 billion resort opened less than a year ago with a huge Memorial Day opening weekend with Beyonce headlining four nights. The casino ranks near the bottom of the shore resort's casino revenue list. Revel's management hopes the bankruptcy can help eliminate a billion in debt and get the struggling property back on the right track with this financial restructuring. They don't expect to see any layoffs or changes for patrons. "Today's announcement is a positive step for Revel," CEO Kevin DeSanctis said in the statement. "The agreement we have reached with our lenders will ensure that the hundreds of thousands of guests who visit Revel every year will continue to enjoy a signature Revel experience in our world-class facility."

A brazen thief at Parx Casino in Bensalem reached across a table and grabbed $55,000 worth of chips on Tuesday afternoon and then ran out of the building. It happened at about 3:30 pm. The man was recognized by several of the table dealers and being in a casino he was caught on several surveillance cameras, of course. State Police and casino officials knew his identity fairly quickly after he left the scene. The thief's only course of action would have been to sell the chips or get rid of them somehow, since he couldn't go back to the casino to cash them in himself. Turns out he was feeling guilty or heard the news because four hours later the perpetrator returned to Parx on his own, gave the chips back, and was arrested.
