Vatican Confirms Philadelphia for World Family Day, Shots at SEPTA Bus, Woman Dies Saving Husband

Today the Vatican confirmed that Philadelphia will be the site of World Family Day. Archbishop Charles Chaput (pictured) expects a high energy convocation drawing tens of thousands of visitors to town. The gathering happens once every three years. This will be the first time the event happens in the United States. There is hope that the new Pope will come to Philadelphia for the event, scheduled for September 22nd to 27th 2015,

Shots were fired at a SEPTA bus early this morning in West Philadelphia. Two bullets penetrate the Route G bus near 56th and Market at about 1 am shattering the windshield. No passengers were struck by the bullets however some were hit by broken glass. Police a searching for the shooter.

A Philadelphia woman saved her husband’s life and lost hers over the weekend. 58 year old Teresa Marquard pushed her husband to safety just before a mini-van hit her. They were out for a walk Sunday morning on Frankford Avenue when the vehicle drove up onto the sidewalk hitting the woman just after she pushed her husband to safety. The driver is being investigated for possible DUI.
