Winter Storm Approaching Bringing Snow and Wind to Jersey Shore, Philadelphia; Chester Youth Grant
  by: iradiotom - Philadelphia, PA

The Jersey Shore is bracing for the worst flooding since Hurricane Sandy. The National Weather Service is predicting tidal flooding for Wednesday from a Nor'easter that will bring winds reaching 50 to 60 miles per hour. Millions of dollars and man hours have been spent rebuilding the beaches and dunes for protection. This storm has the potential to wash away much of it.

A winter storm is approaching from the west and will develop into a nor'easter overnight. Starting tomorrow morning, the Delaware Valley will get anywhere from an inch to six inches of snow with the heaviest snowfall to the South and West of the city. Strong wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour will hammer the Jersey shore.

It should start out as a mix of rain and wet snow in the early hours Wednesday before changing to all snow by Wednesday night. Expect 2-4 inches in the Philadelphia area. Heavy wet snow on branches combined with heavy wind could cause power outages.

The city of Chester will receive a grant to support a financial literacy course for its summer youth program. The $4,000 grant from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation will support a six week paid internship for Chester youths. The program provides hands-on work experience, professional development and financial education.

The 76ers have the Boston Celtics tonight and the Flyers are at the New York Rangers.

Partly cloudy today. 46 in Center City
