So all your friends are down in Austin, TX or at least it seems like all the best shows and cool kids are having fun in the sun at SXSW this week? Have a case of the south-by-blues? Well, just start ignoring those #sxsw tweets and FB updates, the endless showcases/ninja parties/back alley hoedowns/rooftop mashups, or any of the officially sponsored branded affairs with swag bags... Why? It's Saint Patrick's Day weekend in Philly and there's plenty going on around our fair city that they're all missing out on.

Here are some shows that you should check out this weekend in and around Philadelphia. Many are Irish/Celtic related, some are not. All are real, live music played by real people to get your blood pumping this weekend. Who needs to go to South-by-Southwest, when they come to us?

Friday, March 15th
Jukebox the Ghost / Matt Pond PA / The Spring Standards at Union Transfer
The John Byrne Band & guests play the music of Shane Mac Gowan and The Pogues at World Cafe Live
Natalie MacMaster at the Annenberg Center
April Mae and the Junebugs at DeCafe at Perkins Center, Moorestown
Otis Day & The Knights / Swift Technique at The Blockley
The Summer Set / We Are the In Crowd / Go Radio / For the Foxes at the Starlight Ballroom

Saturday, March 16th
Jane Monheit / Mark O'Connor at the Annenberg Center
Don McCloskey at the Tin Angel
Walls / Modern Suits / Val De Val at Milkboy Philly
The Chelsea Kills / Vintage Kicks / The Thunder / Welter at Kung Fu Necktie

Sunday, March 17th
Steady Hands / The Color and The Sound / As the Sparrow / Reward at the Fire
Burning Bridget Cleary at World Cafe Live
The Saw Doctors / The Latchikos at the TLA
Barleyjuice at Puck Live in Doylesdtown
Bill Monaghan & Celtic Pride at Sellersville Theatre
Pink is at the Wells Fargo Center

While you are getting ready to head out, or on the way, check out our Saint Patrick's Day station that will be running through the rest of the weekend.
