Mercy Killing in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Christie's Jersey Shore Tour, St. Joe's GPA Leak

In what hospital officials are calling a "mercy-killing", there was a murder suicide involving a cancer patient and her husband yesterday at the Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown. Eighty three year old Mildred Osman was in hospice care on the fourth floor of the hospital. Her husband, 86 year old Elwood Osman entered the hospital, shot her and then himself. Apparently, he could not watch her suffer and could not see himself living without her.

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is at the South Jersey shore today focusing on getting the area ready for tourists. He visits recently re-opened Stone Harbor Elementary School and then to Atlantic City for the New Jersey Travel Association Conference on Tourism. Christie is asking the federal government for $250 million to buy out homeowners in flooded areas.

By mistake, Saint Joseph’s University sent a mass e-mail that included the names, phone numbers and Grade Point Averages of hundreds of students. The e-mail attachment went out with a solicitation for an internship in Italy to about 500 students. The university sent apologies to students and faculty and called the leak an “internal human error.”

Tonight the 76ers are in LA to face the Clippers. LaSalle takes on Boise State in the NCAA Tournament.

Mostly sunny today. 47 in Center City.
