LaSalle's success in the NCAA Men's basketball tournament is making a Philadelphia playground shot famous. The Southwest Philly Floater from Tyrone Garland (pictured) went down and won the game for the Explorers who advanced to the Sweet 16. The Southwest Philly Floater is a favorite of smaller players trying to shoot over the outstretched wing-span of the big guys.

Marriage Equality will be the topic this week as the U.S. Supreme Court hears two gay marriage cases over the next two days. In Philadelphia a vigil was held in support of marriage equality outside the James A. Byrne Federal Court Building. Busloads of Philadelphia Catholics head to Washington today to demonstrate their opposition to same sex marriage. The Supreme Court will be hearing the case on Proposition 8 which recognizes a marriage in California as a union between man and woman only. They will also hear arguments surrounding the Defense of Marriage Act or DOMA which limits benefits afforded married couples to traditional marriages only.

UPDATE: The Supreme Court is split on the issue of Prop 8 so far today. It may even decide to not decide, instead dismissing the case as "as improvidently granted." That would effectively revert to the appeals' court decision to strike down the ban. That would affect California, but do nothing in the rest of the country. The suggestion came from Justice Anthony Kennedy who holds the decisive vote in the split.

The winner of the $338 million Powerball jackpot is 44 year old Pedro Quezada who lives in an apartment with his family at on a dead-end block next to a highway in Passaic, New Jersey, for now. The lump sum cash payout on the ticket is $221 million. Quezada, who bought the winning ticket at Eagle Liquor store in Passaic says his top priority is his family.
