It may not feel like beach weather today, but Memorial Day is less than eight weeks away. So how is the post Sandy Jersey shore doing with the rebuild? There are homeowners still having nightmarish negotiations with insurance claims. However the Property Casualty Insurers of America say after a half million claims, 90 percent are settled for $6.8 billion.

One of the 48 SEPTA employees who won the $172.7 million Powerball jackpot last April has been charged after making threats in an incident at work. Joseph C. Byrd led police on a foot chase through SEPTA headquarters on February 18th and eventually into Market Street traffic. Byrd was apprehended and committed to a mental health facility.

Philadelphia’s Union League is interested in buying a golf course. In the upcoming auction of the bankrupt Woodcrest Country Club in Cherry Hill the Union League will bid with the intent to continue to operate Woodcrest as a golf club. A competing real estate group has already put an offer of $6.25 million on the table. The auction is scheduled for May 20th.

Sports
The Phillies are back in action tomorrow with Roy Halladay getting his first start against the Braves.
