Free Krispy Kreme for a Year, 4 Year Old Shoots 6 Year Old, Atlantic City's $20M Ad Plan

A dozen free doughnuts every week for a year. That's the reward Krispy Kreme will give to Dr. Timothy Folkomer for being the first in line for today’s grand opening of its newest store in Havertown’s Manoa Shopping Center. Folkomer is a retired geologist and teacher who has camped out at new Krispy Kreme stores before. He donates most of his weekly free confections to a homeless shelter and other charities.

Last night a 4 year old Ocean County New Jersey boy shot a 6 year old boy in the yard of a Tom's River home. The shooting was reported about 6:30 last night on Cedar Grove Road. The four year old brought a 22 caliber rifle from the house, and then shots were fired. The shooting is believed to be accidental and the victim is in stable condition at Jersey Shore Medical Center.

UPDATE: Police confirm that the six-year-old boy who was accidentally shot in the head by a four-year-old neighbor, has died.

Atlantic City will spend $20 million dollars on an advertising campaign designed to attract tourists by letting them know things are just fine after Hurricane Sandy. The DO AC campaign highlights things to do for visitors, including gambling. Last year’s campaign focused on non-gambling activities.

Tonight Philadelphia takes on New York. The 76ers are in Brooklyn to play the Nets. The Phillies have the Mets and the Flyers are at the Islanders.

Mostly sunny. 80 in Center City.
