Multiple reports say 76ers head coach Doug Collins will resign at the end of the season. He has told the ownership the he has decided not to return to the sidelines for the final year of his four year contract. Collins informed owner Josh Harris of his decision in recent days. If he coached the final year of his contract, the 6ers would have paid $4.5 million. There is a possibility that Doug Collins could move into another role in the organization, perhaps in the front office. He previously has coached in Chicago, Detroit and Washington. This year was disappointing for the Sixers who are currently are 33-47 and in ninth place in the East. Last season the team reached the Eastern Conference semifinals, traded Andre Igoudala for All-Star center Andrew Bynum over the summer. However, they have nothing to show for that trade since Bynum has been sidelined all season due to knee problems.
