On Wednesday, April 17, 2013, Ali Fausnaught, 19, fell to her death from a rooftop while partying near Temple University for "Spring Fling". She was hanging out on top of the roof with some friends and for reasons that are not known, fell over a 10-inch ledge. She fell 40 feet onto the concrete. She was announced dead at 5:51 p.m. at the Temple University Hospital. Ali is a Lancaster native and student at West Chester University.

Christopher DeFelice, 32-year-old web developer, saved 20-year-old Enderson Tejada from drowning in the Schuylkill River. Tejada’s car crashed into the river and he couldn’t swim. DeFelice heard him yelling from the river. DeFelice swam to his rescue and pulled Tejada to the surface. Tejada was hospitalized for hypothermia. The Carnegie Hero Fund, recognizes people who risk their lives to save others and he is one of the latest recipients to earn the Carnegie medal of heroism.
