After a day long manhunt that shutdown the city of Boston and its surrounding suburbs, authorities have apprehended the second suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings. Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is alive and in custody. He was taken at around 8:45 pm after a standoff at a home in Watertown, MA. He was hiding inside a boat in the rear of a property on the waterfront in the suburban town. The homeowner noticed blood on his boat cover and when he looked inside saw the suspect, ran inside and called Watertown police.

The massive search began early Friday morning after a furious battle between Tsarnaev and his brother Tamerlan and authorities. Tamerlan was shot and killed but Dzhokhar was able to escape and allude the authorities until this evening. A firefight and sounds of explosions were heard near the house in the time before they were able to take him into custody. Dzhokhar was taken to Beth Israel Hospital in critical condition. He was injured at some point over the past few days and is undergoing surgery. It is the same hospital that Tamerlan was taken to and died early on Friday and where many of the injured from the bombing were treated and some are recovering.

The people of Watertown, MA are lining the streets and cheering/applauding for the authorities as the many law enforcement agencies are making their way out after a long day of horror, violence, lockdown, fear, and ultimately success.

Details will continue in this developing story.
