The Penn Relays kicks off today amid tighter security after last week's events in Boston. Over 18,000 athletes from all over the country and hundreds of thousands of fans converge on Philadelphia for the three day event. Among the new security measures, spectators will not be permitted to bring backpacks or coolers inside Franklin Field.

The surviving Boston Marathon bombing suspect has stopped talking. After talking to interrogators for 16 hours Dzhokhar Tsarnaev went silent when he was read his Miranda rights. During questioning, he told investigators that he had only recently been recruited by his brother to help with the Boston bombing.

A recent poll of New Jersey residents reveals that most think it will take years to return to normal after Superstorm Sandy. The Rutgers-Eagleton poll shows only 15% think New Jersey will be back to normal this year. The survey also revealed wide support for better shoreline flood protection, such as dunes and seawalls.
