SEPTA Cameras Catch Fare Jumpers, Eagles Pick Lane Johnson, Stillwagon Cancer Fraud

SEPTA fare evaders, usually young men and women, are being put on notice; if they jump a turnstile to avoid paying the fare, SEPTA is watching. SEPTA now has 1,100 live feed cameras as part of a $50 million video and camera monitoring initiative to catch fare jumpers and keep the system safe for riders. Since the expanded surveillance system went into effect arrests are three times more for fare jumping and five times more for quality of life violations like drunkenness, harassment and aggressive panhandling, compared to last year.

The Philadelphia Eagles have selected Oklahoma offensive tackle Lane Johnson with the No. 4 overall pick in new head coach Chip Kelly’s first NFL draft. Johnson, 6-foot-6 and 303 pounds, was the third tackle drafted among the first four picks Thursday night.

Police say 35-year-old Susan Stillwaggon is facing charges after she told friends, family, and even her own son, he was sick with cancer. Police then say she accepted fundraising money from friends. Stillwaggon was charged Thursday with 3rd degree Theft by Deception, 3rd degree Forgery, 2nd degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and 2nd degree Using a Juvenile to Commit a Criminal Offense.
