Rational Group Casino Purchase, NJ Overdose Law, Lititz Missing Mom Info

The British parent company of the PokerStars website says it still wants to buy an Atlantic City casino, even though a deal to obtain it fell through on Wednesday. The Rational Group said Thursday night it wants to try to save its deal to purchase The Atlantic Club Casino Hotel. The casino said Wednesday the purchase deal was dead, but declined to say why.

Just a few months after his daughter survived a drug overdose, Jon Bon Jovi joined New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie Thursday for the signing of a law to encourage reporting of overdoses so victims don’t end up dead. Bon Jovi called the law a lifesaver and encouraged other states to do the same. The New Jersey law seeks to assure timely medical treatment for overdose victims by encouraging people to seek help without fear of being arrested for drug possession.

The Lancaster mother’s time in Florida, after she was declared missing eleven years ago from her home in Lititz, wasn’t always homeless in the sunshine state. One woman claimed Brenda Heist, used the alias “Lovie Smith”, and was her live-in housekeeper for about 11 months. Prior to that, the woman said Heist cleaned houses for her other friends. The 53-year-old turned herself in to police in Key Largo, Florida on Friday. Using at least three different aliases, she was convicted of forgery, and is also facing additional charges for another incident of theft and forgery. It’s a painful reality for the Heist family, who petitioned to declare her dead after seven years of searching for her.
