A small plane that took off from the Philadelphia area yesterday crashed through the roof of an apartment in Herndon, Virginia when it ran out of fuel. The plane was headed to Manassas Regional Airport when it crashed into the living room injuring the two residents in the apartment and one passenger in the plane.

The Philadelphia School District has approved the “doomsday” budget that will mean thousands of layoffs and the end of arts, music, physical education and other programs. Superintendent, Dr. William Hite calls the budget catastrophic. The budget needed to be adopted by May 31st, but there is an opportunity to amend if concessions from unions and contractors come through.

Hot enough for ya? The third day in a row with temperatures in the 90’s makes this the first heat wave of the season. And tomorrow is expected to over 90 again. This is unusual for May where temperatures are typically in the 70’s. Sunday will approach 90 with a return to normal next week.

The Phillies open a home series tonight with the Milwaukee Brewers.

Sunny and hot today. 92 in Center City.
