Amir "?uestlove" Thompson, Tariq "Black Thought" Trotter, and the rest of Philadelphia's own The Roots were on hand this morning at the World Communications Charter School at 512 S. Broad Street as the latest installment of Philadelphia's Mural Arts Program was dedicated to the band. The Roots were first 'born' over 20 years ago in South Philly between Thompson and Tariq who both attended the Philadelphia High School for Creative and Performing Arts. Since then they've travelled the world, but always come home. Check them out tomorrow night at Festival Pier for the Roots Picnic and of course on the Fourth of Jul of the Parkway.

Philadelphia Police have released surveillance video of four suspects wanted for vandalizing cars in South Philadelphia early Friday morning. Over 30 vehicles had their tires slashed or paint keyed in an area that stretched for blocks near 18th and Bainbridge Streets. Residents woke up this morning only to find flat tires and extensive paint damage. Police believe they have caught the suspects on video on the 1700 block on Catharine Street at around 3:45 am.

They are described as:

Suspect #1: White, unknown sex, 25-28 years-of-age, dyed short blonde hair, gray button down shirt white vertical stripes, slim build.
Suspect #2: White, 25-28 years-of-age, long blonde hair in a pony tail, black back pack, gray shirt with yoga printed on the front and black stretch pants.
Suspect #3: unknown race, male, 25-28 years-of-age, Light complexion, slim build black rimmed glasses, goatee and dreadlocks, blue short sleeve shirt and dark gray pants with black shoes.
Suspect #4: Race unknown, male, 25-28 years-of-age, black baseball cap, black pants.

The jury in the penalty phase of the Kaboni Savage case has ruled unanimously that he should receive the death penalty. The former boxer and convicted drug trafficker is already serving 30 years in prison. This time he was convicted of killing a dozen people, including six relatives of an informant. He ordered seven of the slayings from behind bars, Assistant U.S. Attorney David Troyer said. His sentence will be formally imposed on Monday.
