Republican Gov. Chris Christie and Democratic state Sen. Barbara Buono brushed aside token opposition Tuesday for their party nominations for governor. The campaigns' final days were overshadowed by the death of U.S. Sen. Frank Lautenberg and Christie's decision, on primary day, to announce an October special election to fill the seat rather than have the contest coincide with the Nov. 5 general election.

The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office is investigating an alleged rape that occurred inside of Wissahickon High School. A 16-year-old student allegedly sexually assaulted a 15-year-old classmate at 2 p.m. inside a school auditorium on April 29th. Sources say the victim reported the incident and was immediately brought to the school nurse, and then taken to Abington Memorial Hospital, where she was treated.

A 22-year-old school bus attendant and hall monitor has been arrested for the alleged indecent assault of a 14-year-old girl and using foul language with three other students, according to police. The alleged incident happened on April 30thinside of the schoolyard of Bryant Elementary School in West Philadelphia. According to authorities, Christopher Robinson, of Philadelphia, allegedly indecently assaulted a 14-year-old girl. He also allegedly used foul language with three other students. Officials from the School District of Philadelphia say Robinson was immediately removed from the school the day of the alleged incident. He was reassigned to a bus depot where he has no contact with students. School District officials say Robinson is still an employee of the school. Authorities say Robinson is charged with Corruption of Minors, Contact with Minor and Indecent Assault.
