Tuition will be increasing for Temple University students this Fall. The university's Board of Trustees voted Thursday to increase tuition by 2.8 percent for the 2013-2014 school year. Tuition rates were frozen this past school year. In addition, the trustees increased the mandatory student fee. The student fee has been frozen for the last four years. The university says the fee increase is in response to rising demand for student services.

Philadelphia Parks and Recreation opened its first pool Thursday – just in time for the first day of summer and the last day of school. The summer season kicked off at Vogt Recreation Center on Cottage Street in Northeast Philadelphia. Over the course of the next 10 days, Parks and Recreation will open all of the city’s remaining 69 pools.

A Delaware County man, working with children as a Sunday school teacher and a basketball coach, is now facing child pornography charges. Steven Almond, of Parkside, is a deacon for Middletown Presbyterian Church, a Sunday school teacher and basketball coach. But according to the criminal complaint, investigators went to Almond’s home a few weeks back and found more than 50 videos of child pornography, some showing kids who appear to be less than five years old.

Weather, June 21
