Former Philadelphia Phillie Darren Daulton has been diagnosed with 2 brain tumors. He currently hosts a show on 97.5 FM which announced the news today saying that “Dutch” hasn't been feeling well the past two weeks and went to a doctor who discovered the tumors. He will have surgery early next week. Daulton played 14 seasons with the Phillies from '83 to '97, 3 times a National League All-Star at catcher, and was inducted in the Phillies' Hall of Fame in 2010. He ended his career in Florida in 1997 when the Marlins won the World Series.

Former Secretary of State and First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton has been announced as the 2013 Liberty Medal recipient. It will be presented to her on September 10th during a ceremony at Philadelphia's National Constitution Center. Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, chairman of the National Constitution Center, says Clinton "has dedicated her life to serving and engaging people across the world in democracy." The Liberty Medal, given each year since 1989, recognizes individuals who have furthered the ideals of freedom, democracy and equality. Past recipients have included Nelson Mandela and Bono.

Firefighters in Northeast Philadelphia were called to a car fire on a bike path just off Woodward Street in the Bustleton section this morning. After they were able to put out the blaze and inspect the vehicle they discovered a body in the trunk of the car. Homicide detectives were called to the scene to investigate. This section of the neighborhood is usually low in crime and many use the path to bike or run. The body of the person found has not been identified as they are burned beyond recognition.
