A half-million dollars in jewelry was stolen from a store in the Borgata Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City. Last night at about 8:45 3 robbers executed a smash and grab then took off in a dark colored vehicle. The three men may have had a fourth accomplice as a driver. Atlantic City Police are welcoming any information.

A boardwalk along the Schuylkill River is underway and scheduled to be complete by 2014. The 2000 foot boardwalk will run from Locust Street to the South Street Bridge, will be 15 feet wide and have extra wide spots for resting or just to pause and take in the view. The boardwalk adds an important link in the Schuylkill River Trail.

Temple University’s major athletic teams have a new home – The American Athletic Conference, which is made up of schools formerly in the Big East, Conference USA and the Atlantic 10. Joining Temple in the AAC are Central Florida, Cincinnati, Connecticut, Houston, Louisville, Memphis, Rutgers and Southern Methodist University.

The Phillies are in Pittsburgh tonight to open a series with the Pirates.
