Cab Shooter Sought, Camden Bomb Found, Sarah Murnaghan Surgery Successful

Philadelphia Police are looking for a man who they say shot and robbed a cab driver last week. Police describe 27-year-old Paul Leavy as armed and dangerous and on the loose. Southwest Detectives Lieutenant John Walker says he shot a Freedom Taxi cab driver at about 10 p.m. last Thursday at Farragut and Walnut Streets in West Philadelphia.

Officials say Camden County police officers, along with the Camden Fire Department and Camden County Sheriff’s Office bomb squad, responded to a call from the Camden Rescue Mission on South Broadway for what appeared to be a grenade inside a donation box. The area was temporarily evacuated and South Broadway was closed between Jackson and Van Hook Streets. Crews removed the grenade and will investigate to determine whether or not it is a functioning explosive before disposing of it.

The 10-year-old Delaware County girl who has had two lung transplants in the last month underwent another surgery Tuesday. Sarah Murnaghan underwent a procedure at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia to repair her diaphragm. According to Sarah’s mother Janet Murnaghan, doctors say the surgery went well. If the diaphragm surgery is successful, they hope to try and remove Sarah’s breathing tube again.
