Frankford Methadone Clinic Opposed, Rittenhouse Jewelry Snatcher Sought, Clinton Visits Bryn Mawr

Dozens of concerned residents of a Northeast Philadelphia community gathered Tuesday evening as they continue a two-year battle against a proposed methadone clinic they don't want at the proposed location at Frankford Avenue and Decatur Street. Many just want to “not have to endure the behavior of a junkie that’s coming to get a free high.” Opponents say they fear the clinic will attract crime.

Police are searching for a suspect who they say snatched a gold chain from a woman’s neck in Rittenhouse. The June 12th incident happened at about 9:55 a.m. while the 57-year-old victim was on the route 38 SEPTA bus stopped at Broad and Chestnut Streets. According to Philadelphia Police, the suspect, who was seated behind the victim, was exiting the bus when he allegedly snatched the gold chain from her neck and fled the bus on foot west on Chestnut Street.

Former U.S. Senator and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton spoke to women leaders from roughly three dozen war-torn countries at a women’s leadership event at Bryn Mawr College. Hillary Clinton arrived at the Thomas Great Hall to a standing ovation and cheers. Clinton founded the Women in Public Service Project in 2011 as partnership between the U.S. Department of State and several leading women’s colleges, including Barnard, Bryn Mawr and Wellesley.
