A teenager has been ordered to stand trial in the stabbing death of his girlfriend on a suburban Philadelphia hiking trail. The 17-year-old Skippack youth on Wednesday waived a preliminary hearing in Montgomery County on first- and third-degree murder charges. He’s charged in the May 25 slaying of 17-year-old Julie Siller of Royersford, who was a few weeks away from graduating from high school.

The Philadelphia Freedoms kick off their home court season Wednesday night at The Pavilion in Villanova. The World Team Tennis franchise are taking on the Springfield Lasers and 2003 U.S. Open champion Andy Roddick. It’s one of Roddick’s first matches since retiring from pro tennis after last year’s Open. Former world No. 1 Martina Hingis, Golden Slam winners the Bryan Brothers and John McEnroe are Freedoms foes later this month.

Three construction workers were injured when a Little Egg Harbor Township home that was damaged by Superstorm Sandy collapsed as crews were jacking up the two-story structure. Authorities say the workers were being treated at a hospital for “serious injuries,” but the injuries were not considered life-threatening. The homeowners were not inside at the time.
