Darren Daulton Brain Cancer, PA Same Sex Marriage Suit, Love Park Renovation

Darren Daulton underwent brain surgery a couple of weeks ago to remove two tumors. According to a release from the Darren Daulton Foundation, the former Phillies catcher has been diagnosed with Glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer. It is unclear whether all cancerous cells have been removed from Daulton, but GBC is usually highly malignant.

It appears Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane will not defend the state in a federal lawsuit challenging the Keystone State’s ban on gay marriage. That announcement coming today at the National Constitution Center. The lawsuit was filed Tuesday by the American Civil Liberties Union. The plaintiffs are 10 same sex couples who want their out-of-state marriages recognized here.

Love Park will get a facelift and expects a boost from the sale of the parking garage underneath the park. The buyer of the garage must agree to renovate the garage with their own money and oversee the renovation of the Love Park above ground which will be funded by the city. Philadelphia has set aside $16.5 million to renovate the city’s centerpiece park.

The Phillies wrap up their series with the Washington Nationals tonight and a fireworks show.
