Mother and Children Killed Crossing Roosevelt Blvd, Collapse Warning, Crozer-Chester Stray Bullet

A young Philadelphia mother and three of her sons were killed crossing the Roosevelt Boulevard at 2nd Street late last night when a car ran into the family. The 27 year old mother was pushing a stroller with her four children when they were struck by a 22 year old driving an Audi. The driver stopped and agreed to a blood test. The mother, 1 year old, 9 month old and 4 year old are dead. The 5 year old son is hospitalized and stable.

An alert prior to the collapse of the building at 22nd and Market last month came to Philadelphia Deputy Mayor and Commerce Director Alan Greenberger. He did not inform city building inspectors because he received a message less than an hour later suggesting the problems had been resolved by the demolition company, STB Investments Corp.

The 62 year old woman struck by a bullet inside Crozer-Chester Medical Center is in stable condition. Investigators say the stray bullet may have come from a mile away. The woman had just been admitted to the hospital when the bullet shattered the double pane window and struck her in the abdomen. Fortunately, no vital organs were affected.

Weather
Excessive heat warning in effect through Saturday. 96 in Center City.
