Pet food and toys will be collected at a special happy hour event in Center City on Thursday to help support animals of isolated older Philadelphians. GenPhilly is a network of young professionals who connect with older adults through their work and personal lives. The third annual “Pet-Tastic” happy hour and pet food and toy drive will held Thursday at Ladder 15 in the 1500 block of Sansom Street in Center City from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. To register and for more info go to genphilly.org.

The man who’s being charged with murder, after allegedly luring and killing a New Jersey man by using Craigslist is now facing more charges related to his Craigslist activity. Thomas Coffee of Willow Grove, is in jail awaiting trial for the shooting death of Daniel Cooke of Williamstown. While being held in jail without bail, Coffee has been charged with three other robberies. Two of them are in fact Craigslist robberies.

Plaintiffs challenging the constitutionality of Pennsylvania’s new voter identification law presented their final witnesses Tuesday in an effort to convince a state judge that it cannot be implemented without disenfranchising large numbers of voters. Three witnesses — all older women who no longer have driver’s licenses and rely mainly on relatives and friends for transportation — testified in video recordings played before Commonwealth Court Judge Bernard McGinley. Lawyers for the plaintiffs say the yet-to-be-enforced mandatory photo ID requirement, would discourage many such people from exercising their right to vote.

Weather

Mostly Sunny. High 84 in Center City.
