Sandusky Letters From Prison, Fumo Released, Nutter Says More School Funding Unlikely

Jerry Sandusky writes that he is having a very challenging time in prison. TMZ has obtained letters written by the former Penn State coach from his prison cell. Sandusky says he is trying to get better, but calls his conviction a grave injustice and he will continue battling the case until the last whistle. Sandusky is doing 30 to 60 for sexually abusing boys.

Vince Fumo is out of prison today. The former state senator from Philadelphia has been in a federal prison in Kentucky for four years for fraud. Fumo stole $4.2 million from the state, a museum and a neighborhood improvement group. Even though he is out the IRS still wants millions from him and federal prosecutors want Fumo to pay another $800,000 on top of the $3.5 million he’s already paid.

Mayor Nutter says it is not likely the city will find any new funding for Philadelphia schools. There will be some money from a state bailout package. But the $50 million grant from the city that school advocates want, proposed by Councilwoman Maria Quinones Sanchez is still only that – a proposal.
