Nathan Hardcastle had two hits, scored three runs, and struck out nine batters in 5 1/3 innings to lead Newark, Del. to an 8-2 win over Lionville, Pa. Sunday in the Little League Mid-Atlantic regional championship game. The Delaware team advanced to the Little League World Series and will meet Midwest champion Urbandale, Iowa, on Aug. 16 in Williamsport, Pa.

A body washed ashore Sunday afternoon not far from where a swimmer disappeared Saturday night in Wildwood. The body could be 24-year-old Christian Alfred, who disappeared around 7 p.m Saturday while swimming near Rio Grande Avenue in Wildwood. Witnesses say Alfred began to struggle in the water and did not resurface.

Tony winning theater publicist, Shirley Herz, died Sunday at Mt. Sinai Hospital from complications from a stroke suffered on July 18. Herz grew up in Philadelphia and attended the University of Pennsylvania for two years before moving to New York. She was 87.
