SEPTA Transit Police, SPCA Chester County Euthenasia, Made In America Changes

A new transit police unit starts today for SEPTA. Uniformed and plain clothes officers will move to known crime spots on busses and subways around the city to help reduce thefts and other crimes. SEPTA says crime statistics show if a crime happens today, chances are it will happen again in the same area.

SPCA volunteers in Chester County say the facility has become a "kill factory". According to a report in the Inquirer, euthanasia numbers are on the rise. Critics blame an ineffective board and shelter management says it is dealing with a tremendous number of stray dogs and cats that are not adoptable.

Even though the contract has not been signed yet, we expect the “Made in America” concert to happen Labor Day weekend on the Ben Franklin Parkway. Philadelphia residents are hoping for some changes to eliminate problems encountered last year. Neighbors complained that sound checks started at dawn the morning of the event.

Sports
The Phillies are in Atlanta with the Braves tonight.

Weather
Partly cloudy today. 83 in Center City.
