Sandusky Victim 5 Settlement, PHL Jet Blue Emergency Landing, Another Fantastic Folk Festival

It has been nearly two years since the Jerry Sandusky sex abuse scandal began with the former coach's arrest, and more than one year has passed since he was convicted of sexually abusing young boys. Now the first lawsuit against Penn State University in the wake of the Sandusky case has been settled: the case of victim 5. In the list of Sandusky’s victims, number 5 was abused 6 months after Mike McQueary reported to Penn State administrators that he saw Sandusky abusing a boy in the shower. His lawyer says if Penn State acted immediately, victim 5 would never have been abused.

A JetBlue flight on its way to Baltimore from Boston made an unscheduled landing in Philadelphia on Sunday. The flight, which had 95 passengers plus crew, was diverted to Philadelphia after the crew reported an odor of smoke in the cabin. The captain decided to err on the side of caution and land the plane before reaching Baltimore. All passengers were evacuated from the plane safely.

Iradiophilly was proud to broadcast live from the 52nd annual Philadelphia Folk Festival this weekend. Performances on the main stage from Friday through Sunday ranging from Amy Helm, Todd Rundgren, In The Pocket, David Bromberg, and Asleep At The Wheel along with artist and organizer interviews from iradiophilly’s Michael Tearson and Al Clay treated listeners on sight, around Philadelphia, and around the world. Details about the concert replay are on the way. Thanks for listening and supporting the Philadelphia Folk Fest and iradiophilly.
