Doylestown Tough on Cats, Pilot's Family Recovers Ring, School Pensions

Doylestown Borough wants to crack down on the feral cat population roaming the streets. Council members there are discussing requiring cat owners to install locator chips on their collars. The move is in response to what supporters say will help reduce the stray cat population by dramatically increasing the likelihood stray cats will be returned to their owners.

A long-lost ring belonging to an American pilot taken prisoner in Germany during World War II has been returned to his family after 60 years. No, this is not Pulp Fiction. David Cox, who died in 1994, traded the heirloom for food during the war. A couple in Germany found the ring and tracked down its owner here. Who knows exactly where that ring has been.

A new report identifies teacher pensions as a pivotal reason for the school crisis in Philadelphia. Similar to situations in Detroit and Chicago, the Thomas Fordham Institute say pensions will drain the coffers dry estimating Philadelphia’s retirement cost will skyrocket from $73 million in 2011 to $349 million by 2020.
