Wilmington Vehicle Break-Ins Foiled, Mantua Police Thermal Imaging, Somerton Home Explosion

Wilmington police arrested a family after a mother led her two sons and a friend on a vehicle break-in spree. The incident occurred early Monday morning as officers responded to a 911 call reporting thefts from vehicles in the 1400 block of Stapler Place. An investigation revealed that four suspects entered vehicles in 1400 block of Stapler Place and removed property. Officers conducted an area search and located Tyvora Douglas walking with her 17 and 16-year-old sons in the 1000 block of N. Clayton Street and they had property from those vehicles.

A local police department is using thermal imaging technology to track down suspects in Gloucester County. Crooks laying low in dark alleys, or the woods, have lost some hiding places. That was the lesson Mantua Township Police say 18-year-old Dominique Reid learned the hard way. He was spotted by the department’s new thermal imaging camera after police allege he helped beat up and rob a man outside of this Target parking lot in Sewell.

A 40-year-old man is hospitalized with second degree burns after an explosion at a Northeast Philadelphia house Wednesday night at the 2000 block of Foster Street in the Somerton section.
The man told police as he was cleaning his oven, he lit a cigarette, prompting an explosion. Firefighters extinguished a small fire.
